ART HISTORY: CEZANNE by Bob Kessel
Archival Pigmented Print on Cotton Rag Paper 34” x 34” inches (86.4 x 86.4 cm) Edition of 100. Signed and numbered by the artist. Frame not included.
The Bob Kessel print titled "Cezanne" is a portrait of Paul Cézanne, a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter 1839-1906.
Cézanne is said to have formed the bridge between late 19th-century Impressionism and the early 20th century's new line of artistic enquiry, Cubism. Cézanne's often repetitive, exploratory brushstrokes are highly characteristic and clearly recognizable. He used planes of color and small brushstrokes that build up to form complex fields.
Both Matisse and Picasso are said to have remarked that Cézanne "is the father of us all".
